OUTREACH
Started in 1966 as the "Music for Shut-Ins Program", the expanded goal is to play music without charge for music lovers unable to attend public concerts. Audiences include those in nursing, assisted living and retirement homes, senior and other adult community centers. Performances are by FMMC members, individuals or ensembles, who volunteer their time. Their names are provided on request to several hundred such sites in the Washington metropolitan area. Members are also encouraged to make the initial contact with the facility, using the list of performance sites below. All arrangement details are worked out directly between the site and the volunteer.
We encourage volunteer performers to call the homes listed on the "Performance Sites" page to make your own arrangements for performances. You will also find useful information on homes in the area on the Retirement Facilities page.
