The FMMC Composers Group was established in 1944. The group presents three or four concerts each year, featuring musical works composed by its members. Most of these concerts are held at The Mansion at Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland, on Saturdays at 11 am. One concert is usually held at the historic Charles Sumner School Museum, on a Friday in February, at noon.
All composers know that “getting their music heard” is one of their most important problems. Membership in the composers group provides an excellent opportunity to solve this problem. This is because composers can ask FMMC performance members to perform their compositions. (This is not a requirement—composers may have their music performed by anyone of their choosing.) By taking advantage of this opportunity, composers can be virtually assured of excellent performances of their original works.
Another benefit of membership in the composers group is that all concerts are recorded by a professional recording engineer. Individual CD’s of these recordings are sold to composers at a reasonable cost.
